Galeria Sfera Bielsko Biała

Bielsko-Biała

The project to implement nature-based solutions (NBS) at Galeria Sfera in Bielsko-Biała includes, amongst other things, the introduction of green roofs, tall vegetation in the Sfera I car park, new green spaces, measures to enhance biodiversity, and climbing plants on the clinker brick façades. Shade has also been provided for the footbridges over the River Biała by adding ropes and netting to the existing steel structure of the footbridges.

What characteristic elements did we use in the project?

CLIMBING PLANTS

We are designing climbing plants for three footbridges covering an area of approximately 300 m².

GREEN WALLS

We are designing climbing plants for several façades covering an area of 1,325 m².

GREEN ROOFS

We are designing green roofs comprising sedum and a wildflower meadow, covering an area of 3,134 m².

AREAS OF NATURAL SUCCESSION

In areas where green spaces already exist, we propose areas of natural succession to protect water resources and preserve biodiversity along the Biała River.

3
TEMPERATURE DECREASE

We have covered 13,250 m² of the east and west facades with climbing plants.

4
BIORETENTION

We have improved water retention and slowed down and reduced rainwater runoff across an area of 6,282 m².
