Szczecin
The project to implement nature-based solutions (NBS) at the Outlet Park shopping centre in Szczecin includes, amongst other things, the creation of new green spaces along the building façade, incorporating tall vegetation, pergolas over the pavements, trellises with climbing plants to provide shade over car parking spaces, an increase in the biodiversity of existing green spaces, retention and infiltration basins, and a rainwater retention tank from the building’s roof to supply the green spaces.
Along the facade, to provide shade for the approaches to the building, we have introduced strips of greenery by removing 335 m² of paving and planting 32 trees and 60 shrubs.
We are designing 5 pergolas with climbing plants above the footpaths, with trees in between them.
We design trellises to provide shade for 66 parking spaces
We design attenuation crates that reduce the discharge of rainwater into the sewerage system by approximately 95%.

What results have we obtained?
We have designed 4,550 m² of species-enrichment measures for the existing green spaces.
We planted 98 tall trees to provide more shade, as well as 187 tall shrubs.
We have provided shade for 66 parking spaces and all the pavements leading to the building’s entrances.
We retained almost all the rainwater on site – a 95% reduction in the volume of rainwater discharged into the sewerage system
