The project to implement nature-based solutions (NBS) at the Wola Museum in Warsaw involved new plantings, the construction of a green wall and rain gardens, and the removal of tarmac and concrete slabs.
They are designed to intercept part of the rainwater flowing from the parking lot before it goes to the rainwater sewage system. They were located in places where there are no underground networks and near rainwater drainage inlets due to the ease of making emergency overflows.
We designed 257 m² of climbing plants for the facade.
We have planted 64 trees and shrubs to provide shade, aid water retention and absorb CO2.
We have used native plant species that coexist with the local fauna and require less water and maintenance.
What results have we obtained?
We have introduced 7 new plant species.
We have improved soil quality by breaking up the compacted soil over an area of more than 600 m² and enriching it with plant species.
We have reduced the temperature by installing a green wall, a green roof, and planting trees and shrubs.
Our solutions reduce the volume of water discharged into the sewerage system by 30%.
